A flexible ornament worn around the neck, loosely rather than close-fitting and not long. It can be in the form of a string of gemstones, beads, pearls, etc., or a band set with gemstones or pearls, or a chain embellished with gemstones, pearls or other objects. Often there is suspended from a necklace an ornamental pendant, cross or single gemstone or cluster of gemstones or pearls.
