Lamb

The revelation to the Jews gave this symbol its full meaning. In the first place the lamb symbolized the Children of Israel who belonged to God's flock, led to their feeding places by their shepherds. Most importantly of all, and with undeviating consistency, to this day the lamb has been the sacrificial victim for all occasions for Jews and Christians and Muslims as well. This is especially true of the rites which have succeeded those of vernal renewal, the Jewish Passover, Christian Easter (the death and resurrection of Christ, the Lamb of God) and the Muslim Ramadan sacrifice, the Kurban.
