Georgian purple stones and gold handkerchief brooch pin David star human hair

A handkerchief brooch pin of gold and foil-set purple paste stones bordering a crystal panel mounted over hair, David star, edged by gold work; the stones are in cut-down closed setting; c.1800

Normally memorial brooches contain a lock of hair, a miniature painting of an eye but we never came across a brooch like this. We think we see, on an embroidered pink background, in white hair or white fine textile a Star of David and the center of this star is dark hair (we think).

Country of origin: Although it does not carry any legible control marks we believe this to be of British origin.

Style: Georgian - Georgian style is the name given in most English-speaking countries to the set of styles current between 1720 and 1840. It is eponymous for the first four British monarchs of the House of Hanover—George I of Great Britain, George II of Great Britain, George III of the United Kingdom, and George IV of the United Kingdom—who reigned in continuous succession from August 1714 to June 1830.
