Old World Splendour: A Red Gold Diamond Cross from the 18th Century

This mid-18th century cross pendant, likely of French or Belgian origin, is a splendid exemplar of historical craftsmanship. Fashioned from 18K red gold, it is adorned with seventeen meticulously set rose cut diamonds, including seven table cut stones. The diamonds, set on foil to enhance their brilliance, illuminate the symbolic significance of the cross. This piece, dating back to circa 1750, embodies the deep spiritual and artistic sensibilities of the era, reflecting the cross's symbolism as a junction of divinity and the earthly realm. Its very good condition speaks to the lasting quality and timeless appeal of this historic jewel.
