A man's neck ornament, usually strung on leather thongs, meant to take the place of a conventional tie. Invented in the Southwest United States by American Indian jewelers and extensively used there.Takes its name from the bolo, a leather-thong-weighted instrument used by South American cowboys in cattle control.
