A decorative type of ring worn on a woman's toe. Such pieces were worn as jewelry, set with gemstones, especially in France during the Empire period. Exampleswere also made of gold in Ashanti jewelry; some pieces were decorated with zoomorphic subjects made in the round by the cire perdue process.
