The Adin Jewellery Glossary
At Adin, our glossary is more than a list of definitions. It is an expanding reference work that helps readers navigate the language of antique and vintage jewellery, from historic techniques and materials to specialist terms still used by collectors, dealers and scholars today.
Its purpose is to bring greater clarity to a field in which terminology is often specialised, inconsistent, or unfamiliar to non specialists. By gathering and explaining these terms in one place, the glossary helps connect the language of the past with present day understanding.
We also welcome thoughtful suggestions. If there is a term you would like to see included, or if you wish to propose a well founded definition, you are welcome to contact us. Submissions will be reviewed by the Adin team, and when a contribution is accepted, credit can be given to the author.
In this way, the glossary remains a growing and carefully reviewed resource for those who wish to deepen their understanding of jewellery.
