A cameo of hardstone carved with portrait. Many examples were made during the late 15th and the 16th centuries in Italy and France. Some were mounted in a pendant enseigne of a finger ring. A series of royal portrait cameos, representing every great sovereign of the age, can be seen at the Vienna Cabinet and the Paris Cabinet de Médailles.
